PRESENTS
Six weeks of guided tap dance for beginners with Bill Simpson.
2 November – 13 December 2026
20 places available
Learning tap dance starts with a few simple steps.
But knowing how to find consistency, how to practice, how to put all the elements together, and how to keep going when something feels difficult – that’s where guidance, accountability and encouragement can make a big difference.
Just TAP: Foundations is a six-week guided series for people learning, or relearning, tap dance from the very beginning.
Over six weeks, we’ll work through the foundations of tap together, with step-by-step lessons, weekly live calls and personal feedback from me. We'll cover these crucial 'building blocks' in a way that makes sense, and will help kick off a new adventure into tap dance, and build a consistent practice habit that paves the way toward the unique magic that only tap dance can provide.
Enrollments close on Wednesday October 28, 6pm Pacific Time, unless places fill sooner.
Just TAP has helped thousands of people begin learning tap dance over the past ten years.
Foundations is a new way to work with me through those first steps, with more guidance, more connection and a small group to share the process with.
This will be our first Foundations series, and I’d love you to be part of it. So that I can properly give attention and feedback to each and every participant, we are limiting the total intake to only 20 places, worldwide.
Perhaps you’ve always wanted to learn tap dance but haven’t quite known where to begin.
Perhaps you’ve started before and would like to give it another go.
Or perhaps you already own one or more Just TAP courses, but would welcome some structure, encouragement and help putting it into practice.
Wherever you’re beginning, you’re welcome here. You don’t need any previous experience, and tap shoes are not required. Yet.
Using the proven Just TAP course structure for beginners, we'll gradually build your 'tap toolbox' with the important 'building block' steps, then begin connecting them into practice that feels comfortable and achieves results.
We’ll also look at how to practice: what to focus on, how to work through challenges, and how to make room for tap dance in everyday life.
You’ll have a recommended weekly path to follow, but you can move through the lessons at your own pace. There’s plenty of room to repeat things, ask questions and take the time you need.
At the end of the six weeks, you will finish feeling excited and very ready to launch into the magical and tremendously fun world of tap dance, with all the tools you need to take your next steps with confidence.
Just TAP, Course 1: How to Tap Dance for Absolute Beginners
My step-by-step video course will form the core of our learning (though certainly not the end of it). New students receive lifetime access, so you can return to the lessons long after our six weeks together.
Brand-new lessons, to compliment and enhance the existing course
Brand new video lessons to help you connect your vocabulary, explore how to find flow between steps, and put what you’re learning into practice.
Weekly live sessions with me (Bill!)
We’ll talk through questions, explore challenges and work on practice habits, confidence and mindset. Each week’s session is offered at two different times to accommodate different time zones (see timings below). Join either or both calls.
Personal feedback
Share what you’re working on, ask questions and receive personalized feedback from me each week.
Weekly practice guidance
From how, when and where to practice, to finding consistency and celebrating progress, we'll cover everything required to get your tap practice habit off to a great start, and achieve meaningful, ongoing results.
Access to our private Foundations community space in Taptopia
Your own space within the Taptopia platform to ask questions, share discoveries and get to know the people learning alongside you.
Check-ins, challenges and encouragement along the way
Email guidance from me throughout the six weeks, optional challenges, plus the opportunity to message me directly when you need a helping hand (or foot).
Help getting set up
Before Week 1, we’ll cover practice surfaces, flooring options and setting up your space. Whether you have a dedicated room or a small corner, we’ll help you explore what could work for you.
Three months of Taptopia's 'All Access Pass'
When Foundations finishes, you’ll receive three months of access to our full course and class library and wider community – normally US$75 per quarter. Your Foundations space and session recordings will remain available throughout those three months, too.
+ much more (including some nifty exclusive bonuses).
Foundations runs from Monday 2 November to Sunday 13 December 2026.
Live sessions take place via Zoom, and run for approximately 60 minutes, with two options each week:
Weekly Session 1:
~ Ideal for UK, Europe and Australia ~
UK: Wednesday, 9:30am GMT
Central Europe: Wednesday, 10:30am CET
Australia (Melbourne): Wednesday, 8:30pm AEDT
Weekly Session 2:
~ Ideal for America & Australia ~
US Pacific: Wednesday, 5:30pm PST
US Eastern: Wednesday, 8:30pm EST
Australia (Melbourne): Thursday, 12:30pm AEDT
Both sessions cover the same weekly focus, with room for the questions each group brings. You’re welcome to attend one or both.
Recordings will be available if you can’t make it live.

Hello, and welcome!
I began Tap at age 16, and have been making noise with my feet ever since.
For more than 20 years, I’ve made a career as tap dance performer, choreographer and educator. I’ve traveled the world, and have shared the love of this art-form with thousands of remarkable people.
I created Just TAP as a way for anyone – regardless of age or location – to discover the joy of this art form, and for more than ten years, the courses have been doing exactly that.
I also love photography, writing, coffee, music, movies, dogs and pretty much everything else.
…but I have yet to find an activity more enjoyable or satisfying to the body or the mind than the art of tap dance.
Hi, I’m Tiarna!
I began Tap at age 2 (along with many other forms of dance), and basically haven’t stopped.
I graduated from ED5 International (Sydney) with a Diploma in Musical Theater and have spent many years as a performer & teacher, specializing primarily in Tap.
I love choreography, and am currently exploring my own work in the styles of Tap and Theater Jazz.
Outside of dance, my many loves include long walks in nature, yoga, making friends with animals, any kind of game night and being a life-long Taylor Swift fan (AKA, ‘Swiftie’).

Taptopia was created to share the magic of tap dance — and to help people around the world build confidence, skill, and a lasting relationship with the art form.
Every day, we support our community to discover (or rediscover) joy through tap dance.
Nope! We’re beginning with the basics. You’re also welcome if you’ve learned some tap dance before and would like to revisit your foundations with the support of this guided series.
We’ll help you find a manageable rhythm that fits your life. Short, regular practice is a useful place to start, and you can revisit the lessons whenever you need.
We’ll guide you through getting set up before Week 1, including footwear, practice surfaces and flooring options. You don’t need a large space to begin, and tap shoes aren’t essential to get started.
A LITTLE ROOM TO MOVE AROUND
We recommend a minimum of 1m x 1m (3ft x 3ft) to move around. For traveling steps, a corridor or hallway is perfect.
A WOODEN FLOOR IS BEST (…but don’t worry if you don’t have one)
A piece of plywood will do the job, or even a plastic office floor protector is a great option that dulls the sound while still being audible to the dancer. We cover home flooring options early-on in the course.
WHAT TO WEAR:
Comfortable clothing that you can move around in.
MOST IMPORTANTLY:
Bring a willingness to try, practise and give yourself time to improve.
OTHER HELPFUL ITEMS TO HAVE CLOSE BY:
Obviously, we recommend you come as often as you can. But everything we do in Taptopia is invitation based. Come along when you can, watch the recordings when you can’t, and stay connected through our private space. You can submit questions and videos for feedback at any time over the six weeks, with a Thursday-evening deadline for that week’s feedback review.
Yes. I check and respond to messages once each weekday during Foundations. I’m offline on weekends.
Our video viewing platform is intuitive and easy to use, with the in-built ability to speed-up, slow-down, change video quality, and skip easily to different chapter points across each video. You’ll also be able to easily keep track as to which lessons you’ve completed, and your overall progress throughout the course. We love it (and so do our students).

Your three included months of Taptopia All Access begin when Foundations finishes. You’ll also retain access to the Foundations space and recordings throughout that period.
After those three months, you can choose to continue with a paid membership. There’s no automatic renewal or obligation to stay.
Your lifetime access to Just TAP Course 1 continues. Access to the wider All Access library lasts for the included three months, or longer if you choose to continue your membership.
Existing All Access members joining through the private member offer keep their current subscription arrangements. That offer has its own member price and does not include an additional three-month membership bonus.
There’s a first-week cancellation window, from 2–8 November inclusive, Melbourne time. Contact us during that window to cancel and receive a full refund.
Included with Just TAP: Foundations are the following bonuses:
+ more, added to regularly.
We strive to keep things clean, simple and flowing. That said, we understand it can be daunting starting something new.
Rest assured, we’re here to help, and will guide you step-by-step through the process of setting up, accessing and using the course materials.
Hooray! We’re excited to be with you for these first steps. Jump in via any of the yellow buttons on this page.
Gregory Hines said:
“If you have a pair of tap shoes on, you’re in! If you want it, we want you.”
That’s the spirit behind Taptopia, the Just TAP courses and this new Foundations series.
You don’t need to prove yourself or arrive with a natural sense of rhythm. If you want to add tap dance to your life, we’d love to help you begin.
Join us today and be part of the very first Just TAP: Foundations series.
I hope to welcome you inside!

We recognize the many nations and cultures that shape and contribute to
the art of tap dance, but acknowledge tap as an African-American
art-form at its roots, which directly influenced the dancers of the
‘golden era’ of Hollywood, in-turn popularizing Tap across the
world.
We also acknowledge the First Nations Peoples of Australia - the
traditional owners of the land on which we join you from - and pay
respects to their elders, past and present.
